Winning the Culina Group website redesign across its entire portfolio

Culina Group is a market-leading logistics company, managing a portfolio of businesses including Great Bear, Stobart, and Fowler Welch. As part of a competitive tender, I was responsible for designing key web pages to showcase a fresh, modern approach that aligned with the company’s branding while improving user experience.
The goal
The aim was to secure the contract for Culina Group’s website redesigns, ongoing maintenance, and hosting across multiple brands. The brief required visuals for key pages across the group’s portfolio, ensuring a cohesive yet distinct identity for each, with a strong focus on accessibility, usability, and positioning the companies as leaders in their industries.
The solution
I conducted UX and UI audits to identify issues like outdated design and poor accessibility. The first stage focused on redesigning the Culina Group and Great Bear homepages, maintaining brand consistency while giving each a unique identity, which impressed Culina Group and secured our place in the next stage. Next, I designed a careers page for Fowler Welch to attract more women to the industry and a flexible sustainability hub for Stobart. Engaging animations, improved navigation, and goal-driven layouts gave each site a fresh, modern look.
The process
Each design was created with user experience at the forefront. I conducted UX audits to identify usability issues, accessibility gaps, and areas where content hierarchy could be improved. The new designs introduced modern styling, clearer navigation, and a refined structure to better position Culina Group and its subsidiaries as leaders in their industries. The sustainability hub approach allowed for scalability, ensuring Stobart could continue expanding its sustainability efforts without overwhelming users with excessive information on a single page.
The result
The designs impressed Culina Group, with the fresh look, refined user experience, and goal-driven approach standing out in the tender process. My contributions played a key role in securing the contract, and the agency is now working on the full redevelopment of the sites, as well as ongoing hosting and maintenance—bringing in significant long-term work.
